In Week 6, you will work collaboratively with your colleagues to develop a group wiki on 21st century tools and technologies for upgrading your curriculum. Your Instructor will notify you this week of your assigned group so that you may begin to work together to make decisions about your wiki and set up your accounts.
To prepare for that assignment, complete the following:
If you are unfamiliar with wikis, view this video to learn about working with wikis.
Communicate with your group to decide which wiki site you will use and how you will organize contributions.
Designate one group member to set up the wiki and send invitations to other group members and to your Instructor to join the wiki; other group members should then register and join so that they can access it as well.
Familiarize yourself with the wiki and post a brief paragraph on the wiki homepage introducing yourself to your group members. Include your contact information and any pertinent scheduling considerations (your availability, time zone, etc.).

It is an interesting program that focuses on developing inner city children. I have the same hours as a regular school teachers and get off around 4:30 Eastern Time. I will make time to work on this project so will typically be available most days after work. I look forward to working with you Haley and Kristen! Haley Costlow- 6th grade Earth Science Hey! I am excited to share ideas with the two of you to look for new 21st century tools to use in our classrooms. I teach at a public middle school in Kennesaw, Georgia that is try to become a science and technology magnet school. The transition has been slower than expected so I am hopeful this activity will give me more ideas to use in my classroom. For the most part, I will be available any time after 5:00 pm Eastern time to work on the project. I do have a three children (14, 12, and 1) and we spend many nights at the ball park but I have a fantastic husband who supports my endeavors and will help me to be available whenever we need to work. I look forward to work with both of you! Kristin Ray- 5-9 Social Studies/Communication Arts I am from southeastern Missouri. I am a 2010 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. I am currently certified to teach grades 5-9. I am actively pursuing a full time teaching position and am currently working as a substitute teacher. 1. Part of Dr. Heidi Hayes Jacobs’ “A 21st Century Pledge: A Curricular Commitment from Each Teacher” (Figure 2.1, p. 22) requires each teacher to commit to review all current available technological resources in the district, including the following:
Online resources:video streaming; Internet websites and subscriptions; WebQuest creation; Webcasting through laptop.
Hardware resources:video conferencing; laptop labs; digital cameras; digital recording studio.
Creative software: Movie Maker; MediaPlayer; video clips via digital cameras.
2. You will contribute to your group’s wiki by providing the following information for each of the three sections listed above:

What is it and how do I use it?
Provide a description of a specific technology that supports 21st century skills. Include the basic knowledge and steps necessary to begin using this technology.

How might this resource replace outdated elements and/or provide a more engaging and motivating learning experience?
Provide an explanation of the kinds of outmoded practices this technology might replace.
Research
What are the documented uses and benefits of this resource?
Post a link to at least on one article, essay, or web-based paper that provides classroom examples, best practices, or research about the use of this technology. Include a brief one-paragraph summary of the information contained in the article, essay, or web-based paper.
